I discovered that the inline speaker connection/device must have it's own volume control. WHY??
In any case it worked with my Apple volume control ear buds. I then bought a separate volume control to plug regular earbuds into. Walla. It worked like a charm for about 2 weeks. Then out of the blue I'm getting "accessory not made to work with iphone". Saying yes or no still results in the device refusing to play out the device. It charges and syncs just fine. However, I'm back to plugging my earbuds directly into the phone. Not having to do that was the reason I purchased this product. I suspect a defect in the connectors or wiring but who know. Buy this at your own risk.

I purchased this less than a week ago. It has already stopped communicating with my iPhone. It's already in the trash.
Overpriced. Low quality cables, no AC plug.

Let's review what a dock should do. First of all, it should charge the device. This product comes with a USB plug only, so unless your wall outlets have USB, you're out of luck. The cables are thin and cheap - on the iphone it will complain that the device was not made for iphone and thus noise will probably spill into the line unless you go into airplane mode (made for iphone .. right!). At least it does one thing that I wanted which is stereo out, but I can detect a slight hissing on the line. You can buy another piece of junk like this for under $30.

Got this to use with the iphone 3gs works great. Only negative about it is for the price paid a cable should be provided. Other than that love it.
