Item Description

This wireless sensor works with your iPod nano or iPod touch (2nd generation) to track your workouts. Insert it into the built-in pocket beneath the insole of your Nike+ shoe and pair it with your existing Nike+ iPod receiver attached to your iPod nano. This sensor is perfect as a replacement for a sensor that has been lost or has exhausted its battery. Or it's great if you want to have a sensor for a second pair of Nike+ shoes. If you have an iPod touch (2nd generation), all you need to track your workouts is this wireless sensor. With its built-in support for Nike + iPod, your iPod touch (2nd generation) can deliver all the benefits of the Nike + iPod Sport Kit without the extra receiver. 5 stars How to get the most out of your Nike + Ipod 2010-05-09

Reviewer: John K. Laroque

If you use this with an iPhone 3GS like me, then this thing couldn't be more useful. My phone is jailbroken so I can run multiple apps in the background, so I use MotionX GPS at the same time as the Nike+iPod app, and then at the end of my run, I can calibrate it perfectly to how far I ran. I know most people don't have their phone's jailbroken, but don't fret, multitasking support is coming in the iPhone OS 4.0 which should be coming sometime soon, supposedly in June 2010. And I've found that after I calibrate it this way, it is surprisingly accurate subsequently. One problem I have is that sometimes I will run in my Vibram Fivefingers, and due to a different running style, I have to completely recalibrate this system, oh well, if that's the price I must pay to have easy charts and graphs of my running workout progress, then so be it. But I figured a simple solution to this, I also have an iPod nano, and I just use it for my VFF's and use my iPhone for my nike lunarglide's, which by the way are just about the most comfortable shoes I'ver ever owned (considering I hadn't had a new pair of running shoes in over a decade, I never imagined those Asics would last SO LONG!) Also, do NOT leave the sensor in your shoe if you use those shoes for daily use, even after I put it to sleep by holding the button for over 5 seconds or whatever, my sensor is now dead and I need another. I think just from walking in your shoe that the pressure hits the button while in the shoe slot.

1 stars Nike+ is a piece of Junk 2010-03-11

Nike+ worked well for about 6 months. Then it started having issues. The Ipod receiver couldn't find the sensor, or it would find the sensor and about 1 mile into the run, it would say, "Activity stopped, press center button to resume" even though I was already a mile or 2 into the run. It would sound like it was working and I would get home and there wouldn't be any information. I finally gave up and bought the Garmin Forerunner watch. Don't bother with the Nike+.

Nike+ does have a cool website and forums, but useless if the product is a piece of junk.

3 stars Beware of used sensor!!! 2010-02-15

Reviewer: A. Brown

The nike plus system is great and easy to use but there is a great weakness in the sensor. The sensor uses a battery which is very difficult to replace. In fact, Apple and Nike suggest you buy a new one instead. Beware when buying used because there is no way of knowing how long it was used before and the battery could die very quickly.

1 stars Does NOT work on the ELLIPTICAL machine! 2010-02-13

If you thought you could use this to track your workout on the elliptical cardio machine-- wrong! It doesn't work! Will not detect your steps on the elliptical. To me, this is a HUGE miss.
