This case is constructed very poorly. I foolishly ordered a second one after my first one broke for no reason. The paint chipped and peeled off on both cases within days of putting them into use. My wife's phone sits on the counter 90% of the day, there's no reason for this case to have fallen apart as quickly as it did. I was hoping that the defects observed in the first case were a fluke. Unfortunately, the second one is 2 weeks old and already chipping and peeling just like the first one did. I'm willing to bet that it will snap apart within the next 2 months just like the first one did. I've used other cases by this company with no problems. This model just appears to be a piece of garbage.

ive owned this for about 3 months now.. the sides have gotten brown. the glue has started to show and the tarp is starting to peel. before that, i loved this case and everyone always complimented it.. when it gets disgustingly dirty, i plan on buying another one LOL.

This case is a real joy to hold in your hand. The cloth backing is a nice texture and the rubber moulding around the screen gives something for your fingers to grab against. It also gives just enough friction to keep from sliding around in your pocket while not being difficult to pull out the way rubber cases can be. The color was a little disappointing, the photos on Amazon make it look more of a medium gray; the light patches are very light, almost white, and overall it's a lot more light than dark.

Protection from the elements is minimal. I predicted when I bought it that it would protect the iPhone from a drop--once. I didn't expect the case to stand up to any sort of impact. It got a test from this the other day when it slipped out of my fingers while pulling it from my pocket and fell about three feet onto stone tile. Sure enough, the case popped open and the iPhone fell out, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that the case itself wasn't permanently damaged. Still, a harder fall might have meant much worse news for the iPhone. There's nothing over the screen, so get a Case-Mate Screen Protector Film 3 Pack for iPhone 3G, 3G S to put over it.

Construction is mediocre. After less than a month of living in my front jeans pocket (including frequent 3-mile walks), the cloth started to fray a little around the edges. However, it's only one or two thread-widths from the edge and seems to have slowed. Also, over time the seam where the front and back halves of the case snap together seems to be just a hair looser. Some of the rubber coating on the moulding where my fingers rest has started to wear off revealing hard plastic (hours of Kindle reading hasn't helped this, I'm sure).

This isn't a pocket-friendly case, but I suspect it would have a good life in a purse or backpack. I'm donating mine to my wife since she's been wanting it for a while.

I received this as a gift for Christmas after my Belkin case broke. I was using a cheap rubbery no name case for a few months in between. I liked how this looked but was immediately suspicious about how sturdy it would be and whether it would get dirty. My toddler likes to watch videos on my phone, but it didn't really get dirty. It did break though. I dropped it a few times indoors with no problem, but dropped it on the sidewalk and then the top part that goes on the outer edge broke. My iphone was okay at least. I had bought my husband a Speck case that was black all one piece (called Speck candy shell) and it seemed much sturdier. I replaced this broken case with a candy shell. I just got it today, so we'll see. Prices on amazon are much better than retail stores for these items!
