3 stars noise isolation vs. Sennheiser CX 500-B stock tips 2010-08-21

I recently purchased a Sennheiser CX 500-B In-Ear Headphone on Amazon for $39 (great deal!) and thought I would try the Comply T-400 tips.
Sennheiser CX 500-B In-Ear Headphone (Black)
I did an A/B comparison between the Comply tips and the Sennheiser CX 500-B tips. Noise isolation is extremely important to me since I wear these while travelling and doing yard work. The Comply tips took forever to install. Since they're sticky you can't twist them on like other tips. You tend to mash them down trying to get them on and then need to wait while the expand back to try again. Then they take some work to mash down before putting them in your ears. They were very snug, almost to the point of being painful. The sound isolation was just a tiny bit better than the Sennheiser stock tips. One other note, while they have ever so slightly improved noise isolation, they have a much more highly air tight seal. This does slightly improve the base, however this also greatly amplifies the noise caused any time you touch the headphone wire, or anything remotely touching your neck or head. Since the tips are almost half the cost of the headphones, since they quickly disintegrate, since they're so hard to install and since they don't provide much benefit over the Sennheiser stock tips I won't be purchasing these again.

most of the stock tips don't give you very good isolation. If you don't get a good seal in your ear, then you're not hearing everything you could be.

These last me a couple of months or so on my ultimate ears before crumbling, but no biggee.

I also found that cutting a mm off of the end meant I heard everything better because they were being pinched off for some reason.

3 stars Nice alternative - but can be rough on narrow ears 2010-08-09

The foam tips are nice and fit snug in the ear which decreased the ambient noise more so than the standard tips that came with my Sennheiser in ear headphones. There was some irritation when the foam expands to contour to the inner ear and if you have a sensitive inner ear make sure and get the right size, but that is true for other tips as well. So, decent product for the price.

2 stars Great but lasts less than a month 2010-07-27

VERY comfortable.
VERY good sound isolation.
Completely beats stock ear pieces.

BUT not worth the price.
The memory foam works for about a month and then it turns yellow and doesn't keep the shape anymore. So basically I went through the 3 pairs in about 3 months. $5 a month, $60 a year... My headphones are $100.
If I cared about SQ that much, I can buy a:

$220 headphone that I plan to use for 2 years.
$280 for 3 years
$340 for 4 years
$400 for 5 years....

See not worth it once you do the math. I rather buy a $400 headphone and use it for 5 years, then to spent $300 on foam replacement for a $100 headphone.

5 stars Most comfortable replacement tips. 2010-05-29

I purchased these along with NuForce NE-6 earbuds and they go perfectly together. These are very comfortable and make a nice seal for your in-ear buds. you roll them like earplugs and they expand in your ear. These are great.
