Great idea..... charge all the different types of ipods and charge them at once. We have three ipods in our house. This unit worked one time and I was excited but it went downhill from there. You have to put the ipod on and wiggle it around to get the connection to work and charge. Didn't realize this until AFTER it was sitting on there for what seemed like hours only to have absolutely no charge. Wiggling it around seemed to defeat the purpose and worried me that I'd loosen the connection even more or possibly break something. I'm much better off just using the Apple USB cord that came with the Ipod and charging it through my computer. Better yet, I bought a wall charger at a "Big Box" store that you can plug two USB cables into. You still have to use your Apple USB cords but can charge two Ipods at once. Much better, more portable (we need to bring it with us when we travel) and much more reliable. Product is a great idea.... just needs to be better made.

I really wanted this to work because it would take care of both our iPhones at the same time. However, it never charged the devices, they actually drew down further while they were sitting in the dock connected. Returned it. I gave it two stars because it's a great idea and a much needed product, just didn't have any success with mine. I'm not saying the others out there aren't doing fine, I'm just relaying my experience.

This is a product that has been well-planned. I simply put my I Pod in the cradle and forget about it. I can connect it to a speaker in less than five seconds. Price was comfortable too.

The Griffin Powerdock dual position charging station *should* get a top rating but they are very stingy with inserts. There is only one for the iPhone 3G and it is impossible to charge a classic iPod. I had to request a second iPhone insert from customer service (on the phone through the usual multiple menus) and then had to pay over $10 for the flimsy bit of plastic because of how it needed to be shipped. It wouldn't kill them to be a bit more generous with the inserts with the original order.

I needed a dock for my ipod (video; 30 gig), and i looked around at all the options and this dock definitely stood out. It came with the adapter i needed, it charges it perfectly, and it is weighted very well. Love the metal finish.
