5 stars My favorite headphones 2010-05-18

Reviewer: flimfrik

These are the best relatively inexpensive headphones. Period. I've tried them all. I walk my very large dog and listen to music and audiobooks, and sometimes really big trucks and loud motorcycles go by. No problem. I especially like the pause button on the wire so I don't have to fish my ipod out of my pocket if I want to talk with someone.
I gave them only 4 stars for durability because the connector that leads into the ipod hasn't always taken the stress. Btw, the other kinds of headphones I've had have lasted for weeks instead the months my other pairs of Ultimate Ears lasted. But with this pair, I shored it up ahead of time with a piece of packing tape. So we'll see if that works longer. Great headphones.

2 stars Great for 3 months.... 2010-04-20

I really liked these headphones. They fit well, sounded nice, and worked flawlessly with my Iphone. Unfortunately after 3 months the right bud (the side with the mic) stopped working. The strange thing is the mic still worked. Only the bud was out. I narrowed the problem down to where the cord meets the jack. I can pinch the cord to the jack and it works but as soon as I let go it stops working. I tried the headphones with other audio sources with the same result so the problem is definitely with the headphones. Why is QA/QC such a huge problem for headphone manufacturers?

4 stars Good iPhone Ear Bud Upgrade & Works on Smaller Ears (4.5 out of 5) 2010-03-15

Reviewer: Jorge J. Coelho

I've never been a big fan of ear buds. I have small ears and I find a hard time keeping the ear buds in place. I never really used my iPhone pair because they would always fall out and after a few hours they became uncomfortable.

A few months ago when my wife's iPhone ear buds decided to finally quit I did some research and recommended this pair to her. Since then she's raved about them.

Recently, I had the need for headphones on a trip and I decided to borrow her pair. I was surprised to find that the ear buds fit nicely into my ears and did not fall out. I immediately became enamored and decided to order myself a pair.

Here are a few pros and cons on the ear buds after using these for a few months now.

=================
PROS
=================
+ These are only slightly more expensive than the initial model that comes with the iPhone (Apple Earphones with Remote & Mic).
+ The "mushroom" covers for the ear buds make it easy to find a good fit for your ear.
+ The cord is made out of a shoelace-like material, which is a nice upgrade over the cheap feel of the standard iPhone pair. Also, I have not had any problems with the cord getting tangled.
+ The storage case that comes with the ear buds is a nice touch.
+ The multi-function button on the mic replaces all (e.g. pause, play, answer, hang up) the same features as the iPhone pair you get out of the box.
+ Noise canceling works very well to block out all external noise while on a call or listening to music.
+ The fit of the ear bud is very snug without being uncomfortable. I've fallen asleep with the ear buds in place and woken up with them still in place without any discomfort.
+ Very clear sound quality.

=================
CONS
=================
- I can see the noise canceling being a problem for some people because when talking your end of a conversation seems much louder. I've adjusted by keeping only the right ear bud in when making calls.
- The sound quality is good, but I feel like it lacks some depth to the bass that I've seen in other ear buds. Then again those ear buds are much more expensive and the quality of the sound is still an improvement over the standard iPhone pair.

Overall this is a great pair of ear buds and I would recommend these to anyone looking to upgrade the standard pair supplied by Apple. I would also recommend these to anyone with smaller ears that have had a hard time using ear buds in the past. There are ear buds with better sound, but for overall features look no further.

2 stars Decent, but fell apart quickly 2010-02-04

The only initial issue was that the talk/mute button rattled when walking. This could be heard by the person on the other end of the line as well as reverberating in my ears due to the noise isolation. Nothing taping it down couldn't fix.

After owning these for only a couple months I was pulling off the rubber noise isolator, and the entire "speaker" came out of the housing. I fixed it with super glue with minimal effects, just changed the sound a little bit. I later lost one of these noise isolators so I had to try one of the replacements of a different size. Didn't really fit my ear, so once you lose one, you are in trouble.

About 9 months in, I started getting static in one of the earbuds. This escalated to the earbud cutting in and out. Extremely annoying and disorienting.

When new and working properly, I thought they were pretty good. I feel that 9 months is a little short for a lifespan on headphones. I would look for a different pair.

1 stars Great for the two months they lasted 2010-02-03

Well.....

I bought it in March of '09. Was reasonably happy with the sound quality - though the cloth wrap that was supposed to keep the cord from getting kinked ended up causeing noise in the earpiece - ironically made worse by the decent sound isolation from everything else.

Not even two months later, shortly after the bridge run in Charleston, the left side went out.

I've called Logitech multiple times, and have been repeatedly offered a RMA label to get a replacement, and one has never arrived.

A total. Waste. of. money.
