This is what i was looking for ! This allows me to dock my ipod without removing the DLO case. I can charge and play the ipod classic without removing the protective case. Perfect for my application. It allows me to charge and play the music thru the apple 30 pin plug.

Although this dock extender does not say that it is compatible with the iPad, I am happy to say that it is. It allows me to listen to music, as well as charge my iPad on most iPod docks. Oftentimes, a warning will come up on my iPad saying that the docks are not compatible however, they all still play music from my iPad just fine and most will charge it, albeit at a slower rate. This dock extender has allowed me to get greater use from my iPad such as alarm clock functionality through the iPod docks, as well as better sound for my music. As other reviewers have stated, this dock extender is too expensive for what it does, (hence only four out of five stars) but it does what it is supposed to do, and it does it well. The included dock adapter plate has a back plate and adjustable rubber bumpers to support the various models of iPods as wells the iPad. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase.

I did buy this for my iPod Touch because of my hefty Otterbox Defender case. I did have to file the dock extender, which didn't take five minutes and doesn't look too terrible. I work at an electronics store that sells iPod docks and I use this with my touch all the time, and I have recommended it to other Otterbox users that thought they couldn't get a dock because of their Defender case.Never have had an issue, except perhaps misplacing it because it's so small.

Very disappointing to find this does not fit the Otter Box case at all. I am now looking at getting an extender cable that might fit.

The ad and the package state that it is compatible with all ipod cases because it's the same size as the charger/sync cable. This is wholly inaccurate. Approximately 1/8" of it is the same size as the sync cable, and the rest doesn't fit.... I have an Otterbox; I wish I had done more research before I bought this item.
